When your world crashes in on you because there exists an "Addict" in your midst, you will need to "follow the one known path" that others have found - to "get the right help" (key concept) to treat this deadly problem - fast. If you don't do this, the addict will torment both you and themselves and all those around the addict at every turn of what short life they may have left. No one wins when dealing with an addict today, and everyone is affected adversly by addiction...left improperly treated. This does not have to be the way it goes, however. The choice is up to you - as the Addict OR the person around the Addict, now suffering (who does have "choices" in this), too.
Most people "around the addict" DON'T KNOW how to help the addict & most often actually fail to help - as they try to help by their own way or attempt of "helping" - damaging all in the process - due one main reason. Ignorance. They fail to realize they cannot help the addict by the normal means of "helping" another person. It just doesn't seem to work. Why is this? It's because addicts operate different than most understand; non-addicts refuse to see and understand this often today. Reason & Rationale DO NOT WORK in the addict's world, and you cannot expect the "normal process of understanding" to work with your Addict. Things therefore do not make sense - when dealing with an addict. Money, attention, prevention of withdrawal (by giving either money or drugs to them as they appear highly in need of either), repeat ineffective rehabs, personal lectures about how wrong they are and why they "need to stop" (I love that one!). Also, your reactive anger, plans to fix it, care for it, change it, prevent it...including free rent, cars, groceries, presents/rewards (like they're now a dog you can expect to do "tricks" for these rewards), things meant to distract the addict from drugs - all DO NOT EVER WORK. And while things AREN'T WORKING, the addict is also getting worse (by your hand)!
If you don't know what to do or how to actually properly treat this most difficult and dangerous illness, maybe you should stop trying to do just that - doing whatever you're doing now - quick!? You don't have to know what to do, in fact; you're not an Addiction specialist, are you? Simple answer: Just go "ask for help" to someone who does know what to do, for you! WE DO KNOW WHAT TO DO in most cases of this disaster. Why not go see an expert? (Most "co-addicts" don't know how to fly a plane either, so when you're "on board"...why not just allow the trained pilot to do the flying for you?! Do this likewise with addiction.) This is a deadly disorder. It kills all in its' path if allowed to continue. Will Power WON'T WORK with this problem - FYI. (I know. You thought that was how to "fix it". NOT!) Don't toy with this all by yourself! Maybe you also like to tinker with Bombs with Lit Fuses on them, as well? People die when dottling with this thing called Addiction, esp. in Others. Get the help of an Interventionist today.
Warning: Secrets keep addicts sick! Don't hide this issue, but do not "process it" with the wrong people in your life, either. Most people CANNOT HELP you with this problem; it takes a great deal of skill and know-how not to mention live personal work experience with this special breed of disorder, Addictions, to effectively deal with this today. It is a highly dangerous ordeal, we promise you this. The "we can handle it" method (within the closed "family" circle or "office" or wherever) usually gets the addict killed in the long run, too. Don't believe us? Take a look at "what really happens" in others - doing just this. (This isn't our first rodeo, friend!) Know that nearly 100% of those in the "pre-(proper)treatment" boat do the exact wrong thing at first, most often - and they think 100% they're simply doing what it takes to take care of "their addict," too! This costs lives to everybody involved! It's a very high price to pay for a disorder that is fully treatable - if handled properly (and the patient complies with care). Costs are at least all: Financial, Emotional, Relational, you know...all the truly important things in this life, most unfortunately.
Addiction is a deadly contagion. It affects everybody within its reach. Everybody! Nobody is immune to its' effects today...know it or not, understand it or not! The sad thing is it does not have to be this way, and the "way out" is available - if you seek it from those who know how this works & can treat it, FAST. Most do not know this, however...though one could say they mean well (at the funeral). But good help is available today. Get it now. Don't wait! Waiting makes this worse, every single time!

You may need to leave your name and telephone number along with your desire as to when you want to begin. It is sometimes difficult to get into our outpatient program as spaces are limited & everyone gets direct one-on-one care by the treatment physician. You won't experience this at most detox facilities because of the higher numbers they try to treat - without this higher level of personal attention, which is required in each case to obtain a workable "treatment plan" for the addict & their family.

We often treat addicted "performing artists" from all over the country in our program; many of whom (like possibly yourself) must maintain their rights to privacy and anonymity as they go through something very private in their lives.
